Lets Do It Anyway New Year Wish

Time and time again we meet so many inspiring people with an incredible 'Lets Do It Anyway' attitude, who despite their debilitating medical condition or disability, they continue to overcome the challenges they face. With this in mind, we decided to give YOU the opportunity to nominate your shining star, someone who inspires you that you truly believe deserves a New Year Wish from us, and the very deserving recipients are:

New Year Wish no 1
For the courageous Paul Jermy. Nominated by his brother Gavin Jermy. We were all completely touched by his story. In his nomination Gavin wrote:
"I am nominating my brother Paul Jermy who is 47 years old. What can i say about my bro..a year ago he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome which is a blood disease that affect the bone marrow and blood, which has become life threatening. He has been in and out of hospital all year because he has to have blood transfusions every month when his blood count becomes dangerously low, which makes him so weak, breathless with zero energy. He has been through so much but still manages to keep going with his chin up. All of us brothers and sister had a test to see if we were a match for a blood cell transplant, unfortunately not one of us were, but just recently the hospital has found a donor and its all happening in the new year, this has given Paul and us a huge lift after a very worrying year as all the family has given so much to help and make things normal. Hopefully this is the turning point. My brother lord is the most inspiring person i know because of all the love in him which he shares".

Paul will be going in to hospital on 6th January for 6 weeks to have a Bone Marrow Transplant, so Gus asked Lets Do It Anyway to make over his garden for when he gets out of hospital. LDIA has also donated a TV with DVD player built in for Paul to watch whilst in hospital.

We paid a visit to Paul, Gus and the whole family today to surprise Paul with the news. It was an emotional moment for all. You are a lovely family & we can't wait to get started on the garden, thanks to our lovely volunteers.

Good luck to you Paul, we are all thinking of your...Always remember...Be Bold...Be Brave...Be YOU...and get well soon.

New Year Wish no 2
For the inspiring Joel Connor-Saunders. Nominated by his Mum Tina Connor-Saunders. Joel never fails to inspire those he meets. In her nomination Tina wrote:

"I'd like to nominate my son for the very reason that he never fails to inspire me... He's kind, caring, thoughtful and always thinks of others first. Joel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the tender age of 14 months old. He was extremely isolated as a child but discovered wheelchair basketball at the age of 7. This changed his life and totally inspired him to help others, he took on a leadership role and managed to take a level one coaching course at the age of 14 to which he coaches regularly (every Saturday) volunteering at our local wheelchair basketball club. Joel has attended disability sports schemes to help make sport inclusive. He has recently achieved an aâ?¢ in his GCSE PE exams even though he is a permanent wheelchair user. Joel is a Whizz Kids ambassador, helps with fundraising and went to Downing Street to deliver the generation inspired manifesto"

Tina told told us that Joel has been Para gliding and also tried out the wind tunnel as he would to Sky Dive, with this in mind we surprised Joel today to tell him the news that 'Lets Do It Anyway' is giving Joel a Tandem Sky Dive (will be decided after Joel visits the Drop Zone), OR a track day.
Joel was completely shocked and his response was "I don't know what I've done to deserve it". Joel, YOU are an amazing young man and thoroughly deserve a New Year Wish. Enjoy your experience.

Joel's 2014 New Year wish was to Sky Dive

Paul's 2014 New Year Wish was to have a complete garden makeover & a TV whilst in Hospital
